Team 18 has launched their new team for the 2016 V8 Supercars season today at its new Dandenong headquarters in Melbourne.
Headlining the teams line up is Lee Holdsworth who will race with the team for his second season and legendary crew chief Greg Grech. Holdsworth will have Jason Bush on the other end of the radio this year and will be joined by Karl Reindler for the Pirtek Enduro Cup.
“Jeff is the one, I have the best group of people I possibly could, I have hand picked all the staff and they are all very pumped,”
Schwerkolt’s operation will run ex Triple Eight Racing VF Commodores as part of a similar deal that Tekno Autosports have enjoyed for the past few seasons. Schwerkolt’s team will be the newest in the field with the majority of his 10 team members signing on in first few days of January.
“To get back with Triple Eight is great, their gear is fantastic and we just want to provide the best car and backup support to Lee possible.” Schwerkolt said to v8supercars.com.au.
Today also confirms that leading Australian specialist equipment hire provider Preston Hire will join the team as their naming rights sponsor for the 2016 season. Preston Hire first came onboard with Schwerolt in the 2015 season for a scattering of events.
“This is a dream for me to do my own show, I probably didn’t think it would ever happen but it feels really good,”
“I am very proud to confirm Preston Hire as our naming rights sponsor for 2016. We couldn’t go racing without them, they are really good people and a great Australian company, they are in for a big year ahead.
