Kiwi driver John McIntyre will further his GT experience as he takes on the Liqui-Molly Bathurst 12 hour later this month.
McIntyre will pair up with team owner Justin McMillan and brothers Dale and Glen Wood to pilot the #48 GT3 Spec Lamborghini. While it’s not the first time McIntyre has raced with the team, it will be his first time driving the V10 Lambo.
In September McIntyre joined M Motorsport for the Sandown Australian GT event as a co-driver in their Reiter Camaro, the same car McIntyre drove to win the North Island Endurance series in 2015.
While it’ll be the first time he drives a V10 powered car he says that getting familiar with how the car works will be fairly simple as it is built by the same company the Camaro was.
“Although I won’t get to drive the car until practice on Friday at Bathurst, the systems in the car are virtually identical to the Camaro (Pedals, Switches, Paddle Shifts).” Said McIntyre
McIntyre’s last venture to the famed Mountain circuit was for the 2015 Bathurst 12 hour where he drove for the first ever all Kiwi team, Trass Family Motorsport in their brand new Ferrari 458 GT3. While the team failed to finish due to a mechanical issue, it would be the start of a successful run in the Australian GT series.
Last time out at the Mountain M Motorsport successfully campaigned the Lamborghini running comfortably in the top 10 until a gearbox failure ruined their chances of finishing. Since then the car has undergone a full rebuild.
“The car has been completely rebuilt for the Bathurst 12 Hour and the team will go to the Mountain well prepared.”
