The four Kiwi competitors at this years Le Mans 24 hour race have shown their pace with all four scoring top threes in there respective classes. Brendon Hartley 2nd in LMP1, Earl Bamber 3rd in LMP1, Mitch Evans 3rd in LMP2 and Richie Stanaway 1st in GTE PRO.
Brendon Hartley’s Porsche LMP1 team dominated Qualifying 1 scoring 1-2-3, Hartley 2nd and fellow Kiwi and team mate Earl Bamber 3rd. Although the spotlight was on Porsches #18 entry and driver Neel Jani who smashed the lap record at the 13.6km circuit by just under two seconds setting a 3:16.88s.
Audi’s fleet of R18 e-tron quattro’s were left in Porsche’s dust however they claimed 4th, 5th and 6th positions.
Regular GP2 driver Mitch Evans’ team claimed 3rd position in the slightly slower LMP2 class. The Gibson Nissan setting the 14th fastest overall time with 3:39.004s.
New Zealand’s Richie Stanaway helped his team get the top spot in the GTE Pro class setting the best time in the #99 Vantage.
