Red Bull Racing Australia team owner Roland Dane has slammed the practice tyre rules in the V8 Supercars category.
Dane expressed his concerns with the practice tyre rules during an interview in Practice 1 at the ITM500 earlier today.
During the ITM500 event no used tyres will be utilised by the V8 Supercars teams as they aren’t able to bring them into the country due to customs issues. That of course means that teams will have brand new Dunlop tyres for the events practice session as opposed to the normal rules which sees teams run used tyres in practice.
When asked about tyres on the broadcast Dane responded with this.
“I Really like that fact that your coming to a race meeting and you’re running new tyres through out. This Bullshit that we have of running used tyres at race meetings is complete nonsense!”
Tyre talk has been a hot topic of late with drivers and teams complaining about the lack and type of rubber. The tyres were labeled partly responsible for the dismal racing the series featured in the early SuperSprint events, which lead to the introduction of the soft tyre for future SuperSprint events.
Whilst the tyres aren’t set to change for Practice in 2016, the Soft tyre is confirmed to replace the Hard compound as the main tyre.
